Covid-19 long haulers fight for understanding from employers

Impaired work productivity, apathetic employers and financial strains fueled by rising unemployment numbers are among the many obstacles facing #longhaulers in the wake of the #COVID19 #pandemic. Many thanks to @fastcompany + @pavsmo for covering this underrepresented issue, and for taking the time to interview our group's co-founder @fi_lowenstein + @wearebodypolitic’s admin @i_wanna_get_free.

When she realized she might have contracted Coronavirus, Isabela Pauer (@isabelaamp), like many other young folks, thought it wouldn’t be a big deal. Even her doctors told her that because she was young she should end up fine, but her Covid-19 symptoms lasted for much longer.

The COVID-19 Working Group – New York (CWG–NY), recently published a guide to ensure accurate reporting of COVID-19 and to mitigate stigma associated with getting or having the virus. This guide covers everything from inclusively framing patient narratives to defining helpful medical jargon. This guide is also great in educating yourself and others as we work toward becoming better Covid patient allies!
